Aromatherapy
Ancient Healing for Modern Times
Aromatherapy is a healing modality that has been in existence since man began recording history. There are a number of references in the Old and New Testament of the Bible, including the Frankincense and Myrrh brought to Bethlehem by the three wise men. Trade routes were formed in the old world to trade essential oils and spices, which were often more highly prized than silk or jewels.
What is aromatherapy? Each plant naturally contains vital oils that protect the plant against diseases and pests. When the oils are distilled in a precise and careful manner, the healing properties that protect and heal the plant are present in the aromatherapy oil. These precious oils became known as Aromatherapy in the 1930’s because of their distinct smells; however it is not just the smell that heals the body and affect state of mind, but the chemical composition of the oils as well.
These oils made from all parts of various plants contain properties which complement the body’s natural chemistry to correct imbalances. Through inhalation and the oils penetration through the skin, essential oils counteract the physiological and emotional impact of lifestyle and environment. Research abounds validating the efficacy of aromatherapy oils.
