Hawaii Island Retreat lands includes farm, gardens, the windswept cliffs and streamside meadows of Honopueo and Hana’ula, ancient land divisions in historic North Kohala. Here, weathered stones, or pohaku, keep council with native mangoes beneath a forested hula platform. Paths lead back through gardens and valley, as well as makai (seaward), to a cobbled beach and cove.

Hawaii Island Retreat has 50 acres of sacred land including gardens, goat sanctuaries, and a private cove.
The land holds stories, and the hint of magic, veiled in legends and misty mornings. We’ve captured some of the mystique and healing quality of the land in articles, poems, and vignettes of it hidden splendor. Joins us in celebrating Ahu Pohaku Ho’omaluhia, this land of peace-giving stones as you sample the images and writings. It is green travel at its most magical.
Experience life as our ancestors did – in deep connection with the land and the other creatures who share it. Guests will have the opportunity to visit our goat dairy, enjoy luscious fruit picked and eaten right off the tree, help our gardener harvest vegetables from our organic garden, and traverse our 50 acres of land observing and assisting with gardens, orchards, and animals.
